In the beginning ........

Two City Churches is about St Olave's and St Katherine Cree, in the City of London. Mainly a 'whats happening' blog but with reflections on what we are trying to do, what's going on around us and reflections on being a 21st Century churchgoer in an ancient city. Sir John Gayer, born in Plymouth was a merchant of some standing in the City of London, where he resided in the parish of St. Katharine Cree. In 1643, as a member of the Levant Company, he journeyed to Arabia on a trading mission. Here, on the 16th October, he became separated from his companions and, as dusk fell, became aware that a lion circled him but did not attack.
